Let’s celebrate the traditions of the native people of Latin America this Columbus Day

An Aztec Feast

We now know that the New World was not discovered by Christopher Columbus – it was already populated by an incredible variety of native people with different traditions, arts, culture and languages.  For this reason while many Americans still celebrate Christopher Columbus Day, which is set for Monday, October 13 this year, traditions are shifting in Latin America where the day was marked as Día de la Raza but many now call it the Día de la Resistencia Indígena.

One thing we can all agree on is that the people of Mexico have contributed a lot to the social fabric of the Americas.  Ask most Americans what are their favorite foods or restaurants and many will answer “Mexican,” because our food is delicious!

At El Pollo Norteño we continue to prepare food in the rich tradition of Sinaloa, Mexico.  We cook our chicken slowly over mesquite-fired flames and the results are the best grilled chicken in Orange County!  Stop by and pick up a Family Pack and you will have enough pollo, whole or refried beans, and Mexican rice to feed your entire family! Stav, currently the host of Univision’s popular coast-to-coast radio show, “Tu Dinero con Julie Stav,” cut the grand opening red ribbon and also participated in grilling El Pollo Norteño’s signature marinated grilled chicken.

Thank you for visiting our location on Grand Ave. in Santa Ana for over 32 years!

Published on November 7, 2013 by in News

Thanksgiving Coupon

As you may know by now we have had to close our original El Pollo Norteño location on Grand Ave., in Santa Ana, as the City of Santa Ana is widening the street – and the city officials decided to demolish our restaurant as well as the famous Grande Bakery.

We would like to thank our customers for 32 years of business at that location, which was opened by our founder, Salvador Corona. Our current President, Alfonso Corona, grew up at this store as have his children.

The good news is that we are still in Santa Ana – just a few miles away at 1525 West 1st St.  And we are going to continue to service all of Santa Ana with our delivery and catering services! Read more…

We celebrate All Saints’ Day and the Day of the Dead on Nov. 1 and 2

allsaintsday

The Western Christian holiday of All Saints’ Day falls on 1 November, followed by All Souls’ Day on 2 November, and is a Holy Day of Obligation in the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church.  In Mexico, Portugal and Spain, offerings (Portuguese: oferendas, Spanish: ofrendas) are made on this day. In Spain, the play Don Juan Tenorio is traditionally performed.

All Saints’ Day in Mexico, coincides with the first day of the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) celebration. Known as “Día de los Inocentes” (Day of the Innocents), it honours deceased children and infants.

At El Pollo Norteño we join you in celebrating these special dates that are so important in our culture.  These are special times to spend with your family.  Let us do the cooking!  Click here to see our menu, including our popular Family Packs.
